The Paying It Forward Foundation is a Iowa based nonprofit corporation organized by Michael and Penni Steen. Working together with the Fishers of Men Ministries, the Steen’s began raising funds for fresh water well projects in Kenya, Africa. Shortly after purchasing the Masonic Temple in 2009 and relocating the “Legendary Terror in The Woods” haunted attraction to 420 18th Street Rock Island Illinois, Skellington Manor Event Center opened.
Throughout several years, funding is obtained through many events including Terror at Skellington Manor, ‘Theater of The Macabre’. With tremendous community support and a very dedicated family/friends’ network 8 freshwater well projects have been completed, both shallow and deep wells.
Also, once a well is operational funds have been provided for mango trees to be planted now that water is readily available. This creates a large source of income, to those villages in Kenya, which did not exist prior to wells being installed. It also allows them to plant gardens and raise livestock and opens many avenues for community growth in those areas. LIFE CHANGING FOREVER!!
As a Christian based organization, the ability to bring fresh water into a community is a miracle. God does answer prayers. Shown below is the current well that was completed as of 9/18/23. This well went 405 ft deep and will serve at least 500 families and at least 20,000 Kenyans. To date this well will produce almost 20 times more water than any of the other completed wells. There was so much water that the solar panels and the size of the pump had to be doubled. What a blessing.
